The CRH (China Railway High-speed) bullet trains on the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-speed Railway are scheduled to open to public on 26th April. By then, it will only take about 1.5 hours to travel from Xiamen to Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian. Many popular tourist spots which are used to take longer to reach are becoming closer along the rail tracks.
The 274.9-km-long railway, linking Xiamen, Quanzhou, Putian and Fuzhou, has 14 stations. They are Fuzhou Nan (South), Fuqing, Yuxi, Hanjiang, Putian, Fengting, Hui’an Xi (West), New Quanzhou, Quanzhou Nan (South), Xiang’an, Xiamen Xi (West), Xinglin and Xiamen Bei (North). It’s a piece of exciting news for tourists for the safe and speedy bullet train will greatly facilitate inter-city travel between Xiamen, Quanzhou, Putian and Fuzhou. The predominant mode of transport is foot. It is an island of calm in an otherwise busy, noisy city. Previously a foreign enclave during the colonial era, Gulangyu Island is bursting with European buildings. The island is also famous as “Piano Island”.
